This information is for the visitor who has just been elected as a member of the Potomac Valley Radio Club (PVRC) and is intended to explain what they should do to get the most from their PVRC experience.

You will find the club is both a source of inspiration and a source of knowledge for hams interested in contesting.
The PVRC Reflector (email) is the way that you ask questions of your fellow members, provide answers, get the latest Chapter meeting changes, contest announcements, etc. It is essential to subscribe to the Reflector in order to participate fully as a member of PVRC and get the optimum experience from PVRC. The reflector is a standard Mailman robot driven by your specifications. You can get info about using it by sending a message with just the word ‘help’ as subject or in the body, to:

PVRC Chapters – attending the Chapter meetings in-person or online is the way to regularly see and talk to members, ask questions, see live presentations of radio-related topics, etc. Click here for a list of Chapters, locations, contact information and schedules. Attend any and all meetings, you don’t need to be a member of the Chapter to attend its meeting!
PVRC Newsletters are published monthly (except August) with a word from the PVRC President plus membership contributions of photos, build projects, informative articles (e.g. ionospheric propagation theory, contest operating techniques). Our Newsletter is an excellent way to monitor club trends, activities, see who has won awards recently… on a monthly basis. The Reflector will contain more real-time news. A link to our Newsletter is one of the first items on our homepage and here is a link to the current Newsletter and the archives.

PVRC History since 1947 – PVRC was founded in 1947 and has much history in its growth over the years. There are several historical summary references accessible via the homepage search : “History”. One of those references is The Short Story.
